Help

Ask us anything

The assistant answers instantly from everything we publish: prices, adverts, applications, payments, your data and your rights. Anything it cannot answer goes straight to a person, who replies within one working day.

Hello. I can help with job adverts, prices, payment, applying for a job or your data. What do you need?

The assistant answers from our own published information. It never sees your CV, your account or your applications, and nothing you type here is sent to a third party.

Common questions

How much does it cost to advertise a job?

Prices are on the pricing page and they move with our current pricing phase, so the page is always right. Today it is a single advert, a featured advert pinned to the top, a five advert pack, and add ons for social media promotion and your logo, all plus VAT. Buy at an introductory rate and you keep that rate for three years from your first advert, while you keep advertising with us.

How do I post a job advert?

Create an employer account (free), press Post a job, write the advert and choose a package. We raise an invoice with a reference, and the advert goes live as soon as payment clears, normally within one working hour on a weekday.

How can I pay, and do you take purchase orders?

We issue a VAT invoice on order. Pay by card link (the fastest, your advert goes live within a minute), bank transfer quoting the invoice reference, or ask for a card payment link by replying to the invoice email. VAT is added at the prevailing rate, purchase order numbers are fine, and approved account customers can pay within 30 days.

Can I cancel an advert or get a refund?

Cancel before the advert is published and you get a full refund. Once it is live it has been delivered, so it is not refundable, but you can close it from your dashboard the moment the role is filled. Subscriptions cancel with 30 days notice.

Terms of business

How long does an advert stay live?

Every advert runs for 30 days from the day it goes live. You can close it early from your dashboard, and reopen it later if the hire falls through.

Employer dashboard

What does a featured advert do?

A featured advert ({featured} plus VAT) is pinned above standard adverts for the full 30 days, shown with a highlighted card and a Featured badge, and included in the weekly jobs email to candidates.

Pricing

Can you put my advert on social media?

Two ways, and the first is deliberately cheap. Share it on social is {share} plus VAT: we post your advert to the HIRING UK Facebook page and our Facebook jobs group, and share it from our LinkedIn page and group, the same day. The full social push is {social} plus VAT and adds a designed image for the role, posts into the regional and trade groups we are members of, and shares it again halfway through the 30 days. Tick either box when you write the advert, and you are never charged for both. You can also share any advert yourself with the buttons on it.

Social channels

Do I have to put the salary in the advert?

Yes. Every advert on this board shows the pay, and we refuse the ones that do not. It does not have to be a single figure though: a range, a rate, a day rate, a base with on target earnings (£25,000 basic, OTE £45,000), pro rata for part time, or a wide band for a senior or confidential role are all fine. What we cannot publish is competitive, negotiable, DOE or salary on application with no figure at all. Adverts that state the pay get more applications and better ones, which is the whole reason for the rule. Send us the package and we will write the line with you.

Employer questions  ·  Post a job

Can I put my company logo on the advert?

Yes. Upload it once in your dashboard, then add it to a single advert for {logo}, or take branded adverts at {branding} a month and it appears on everything you post. Recruiter unlimited includes branding.

We are a recruitment agency. Can we advertise client roles?

Yes, and there is a page written for you. Advertise a client vacancy from {single}, keep every candidate with no ownership clause and no placement fee, and put your own logo on it. Say clearly in the advert that you are an agency acting for a client, and you can keep the client confidential.

Can you keep my CV for other jobs?

Yes, if you ask us to. When you apply there is a separate tick box, off unless you tick it, that asks us to keep your CV so the HIRING UK team can contact you about roles we recruit for ourselves. Only our team can see it, no employer can search it, it is never sold, it is erased after twelve months unless you confirm, and one click withdraws it.

What that means  ·  Candidate area

How do I report a bad or suspicious advert?

Use the report form, which takes thirty seconds and can be anonymous. We read reports the same working day, take adverts down first and ask questions after, and pass anything criminal to Action Fraud or the police.

Report an advert  ·  Advert rules

Can I search a database of candidates?

Not as an advertiser, no. We never sell access to candidate data and no employer can search for candidates here: you get the applications sent to your own advert. HIRINGUK LTD does keep CVs from candidates who tick a box asking us to, for roles we recruit for ourselves as an agency, and only our own team can see those. If you want us to do the recruiting rather than the advertising, ask us.

Is it really free for candidates?

Everything is free for candidates, always: searching jobs, applying with your CV, and creating an account to manage what you sent. Employers pay to advertise, candidates never pay us anything.

How do I apply for a job?

Open the advert, scroll to Apply for this job, fill in your name, email and phone, attach your CV as PDF or Word (up to 5 MB) and add a short note. No account is needed. Your details go to that employer and to us, nobody else.

How do I send my CV to an employer?

Go to Upload your CV, fill in your headline, sector, town, experience and skills, attach the file and choose a password. That password gets you into your candidate area afterwards, where you can update the CV, hide the profile or delete it.

How do I update, hide or delete my CV?

Sign in to your candidate area to edit your profile, replace the CV file, hide yourself from employers or delete everything permanently. You can also email dpo@hiringuk.co.uk with your reference and we will do it for you within 30 days, usually the same week.

Who can see my CV and my details?

Only the employer whose advert you applied to, and our own team. No other employer can search for you and nobody can buy your details, so your current employer cannot stumble across you. If you tick the optional box asking us to keep your CV for roles we recruit for ourselves, only the HIRING UK team sees that copy, and one click takes it off file.

Candidate data policy  ·  Privacy notice

What do you do with my personal data?

We handle personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Applications are kept 12 months, candidate accounts 6 months from the last apdate, invoices 7 years. You can ask for a copy, a correction or deletion at dpo@hiringuk.co.uk and we answer within a month.

What cookies does the site use?

Three strictly necessary cookies only: one to keep employers signed in, one for our own admin area, and one to remember that you dismissed the cookie notice. No advertising cookies, no third party analytics, no tracking pixels.

How do I sign in or reset my password?

Employers sign in at the employer login page, candidates at the candidate one. Forgotten the password? Email hello@hiringuk.co.uk from the address on the account and we will reset it the same working day.

Which towns, regions and sectors do you cover?

Every town and region in the UK, including Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and remote roles, and every sector from construction and care to legal, IT and farming. Type any town into the search box, or use the sector and region links.

Job board  ·  Site map

Are you a recruitment agency?

We are a job board, not a recruitment agency. We sell advertising and access on published prices and never take a percentage of a salary. Nobody screens candidates for you, which is why it costs tens of pounds instead of thousands.

About us  ·  Pricing

How do I report a suspicious advert?

No legitimate employer here will ask you for money, for bank details before an offer, or for your passport before an interview. Report anything like that to hello@hiringuk.co.uk with the advert reference and we will take it down the same day.

Advert rules  ·  Modern slavery statement

How do I make a complaint?

Email hello@hiringuk.co.uk and we acknowledge within one working day and answer fully within ten. If that does not settle it, ask for it to be escalated to the director responsible, who gives a final response.

Complaints procedure  ·  Contact us

How do I speak to a person?

Email is the way to reach us: hello@hiringuk.co.uk, or the contact form. We read everything and reply within one working day, usually sooner. Email is watched {hours}; anything arriving outside those hours is answered the next working day. We are a small team and we would rather answer you properly in writing than badly on a phone. Adverts still go live automatically the moment a card payment clears, at any hour, including Sundays.

Can you help me write the advert?

Send us the role and we will draft the advert for you at no extra cost, and we will review an advert that is underperforming and tell you honestly what to change. Clear pay, a real location and a short list of requirements beat a long job spec every time.

What advert wording is not allowed?

Adverts must comply with the Equality Act 2010. We reject age markers, gendered job titles, and requirements that exclude disabled applicants without being necessary for the job. We always ask for a rewrite first, because most breaches are careless rather than deliberate.
