What it actually is
The articulated lorry: a tractor unit and a separate trailer, 44 tonnes on six axles. Class 1 is the top of the goods licence and it opens every other door on this page.
What you need to hold
Category C+E, a Driver CPC card in date, a digital tacho card and a medical every five years after 45.
What it does to the money
The best paid general driving work in the country outside specialist tickets, and the gap over Class 2 is real rather than a few pounds.
